A DIFFERENT WAY FORWARD
ADHD is about more than attention
You may know what you want or need to do—and still find it surprisingly difficult to get started.
ADHD can shape how you start and finish tasks, organise yourself, manage time, regulate emotions, shift attention and find motivation when something isn't immediately rewarding.
Thriving with ADHD replaces blame with curiosity and compassion while developing practical strategies that work with the way your brain works. Learning how to thrive with adult ADHD isn't about forcing yourself to work differently. It's about finding approaches that support you.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
Practical skills for real life
The goal isn't perfect focus, organisation or emotional control. It's learning how to respond more flexibly when ADHD—and life—gets difficult.
Understand your ADHD differently
See ADHD through a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming lens—and separate genuine difficulties from years of self-judgement.
Work with wandering attention
Practise ADHD-friendly attention strategies that don’t require an empty mind or perfect concentration.
Navigate difficult emotions
Respond to anxiety, frustration, overwhelm and rejection with greater openness and choice.
Build self-compassion
Develop a kinder, more constructive response when you procrastinate, forget something or have a difficult ADHD day.
Untangle from unhelpful thoughts
Notice familiar thoughts like “I’m lazy” or “I’ll never change” without letting them decide what happens next.
Turn intentions into action
Use small steps, flexible routines and practical supports that rely less on motivation or willpower.
Progress doesn’t need to be perfect to be meaningful.
THRIVING WITH ADHD
NOT JUST TALKING ABOUT ADHD
Practical strategies that work with your brain
Understanding ADHD can be validating. But understanding alone does not always make it easier to start the task, remember what you intended to do, or maintain a routine when motivation disappears.
We combine ACT-based skills with practical approaches that can be adapted to your life.
YOUR 8-WEEK JOURNEY
Learn, practise, and build a toolkit that is yours
Each week adds a new layer of understanding and practical experience, moving from self-awareness to sustainable, values-led action. Like other ADHD group programs, the sessions provide space to learn alongside others while developing skills you can use in everyday life.
Week 1
Understanding ADHD & psychological flexibility
Understand your ADHD through a neurodiversity-affirming lens and discover new ways to respond to everyday challenges
Week 2
Making room for difficult thoughts & feelings
Meet overwhelm, frustration and anxiety with greater openness, rather than avoidance or self-criticism.
Week 3
Untangling from the ADHD mind
Step back from unhelpful thoughts and familiar self-critical stories so they have less influence over your choices.
Week 4
Present-moment awareness & attention
Practise noticing distractions, gently redirecting your attention and reconnecting with what is happening here and now.
Week 5
Self-compassion & the observing self
Develop a kinder relationship with yourself and learn to notice difficult experiences without being defined by them.
Week 6
Values & what matters most
Clarify what genuinely matters and use your values as a compass for purposeful choices.
Week 7
Committed action & ADHD-friendly habits
Turn what matters into realistic action using flexible routines, reminders and practical supports.
Week 8
Creating a sustainable ADHD life
Bring your learning into a personalised toolkit for maintaining progress, navigating setbacks and beginning again.

WHY ACT FOR ADHD?
Move towards what matters—even when your mind gets in the way.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based approach that focuses on developing psychological flexibility: staying connected with the present, making room for difficult internal experiences and choosing actions that move you towards what matters.

Rather than waiting for uncomfortable thoughts or feelings to disappear, you learn ways to notice them, make room for them and choose what you want to do next.

“What matters to me, and what is one step I
can take in that direction?”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What you may want to know
Still wondering whether the group is right for you? We are happy to talk it through.
How long is the program?
Thriving with ADHD runs for eight weeks, with one 90-minute session each Tuesday. The current program runs from 29 September to 17 November in South Perth.

What type of therapy is used?
The program is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an evidence-based approach that focuses on psychological flexibility. You'll learn practical ways to respond to difficult thoughts and emotions, stay connected with what matters to you and take meaningful action.

Is this a skills course or group therapy?
It's a therapeutic group that combines ACT-based psychological skills with practical strategies for everyday life. As a form of ADHD group therapy, you'll have the opportunity to learn, practise skills and reflect on your experiences in a supportive small-group setting.

Do I need previous therapy experience?
No. You don't need previous therapy experience to take part. The program is designed to meet you where you're at, with a focus on learning and practising practical skills rather than having everything figured out beforehand.

Do I have to be good at mindfulness?
Not at all. You don't need to be experienced with mindfulness or meditation. The program introduces present-moment awareness in practical ways that can be adapted to an ADHD brain.
What if I don’t keep up with between-session practice?
That's okay. The program isn't about doing everything perfectly. Between-session practice is an opportunity to try out what you've learned, and you can discuss what worked, what didn't and what got in the way during the group.
Do I have to share personal things?
No. You won't be required to share anything you're uncomfortable discussing. The group provides a confidential and supportive environment where you can participate at a level that feels appropriate for you.
How do I know if the group is right for me?
A brief suitability conversation takes place before you join. This allows you to ask questions and discuss your current needs, while helping us determine whether the group is appropriate for you.
Do people with ADHD thrive in chaos?
Not necessarily. While some people with ADHD may find they can focus more easily when there is urgency, novelty or pressure, this doesn't mean they need chaos to function well. ADHD can affect attention, motivation, organisation and emotional regulation in different ways, and the program aims to develop strategies that support you in everyday life.
What is the most effective ADHD treatment program?
There isn't one ADHD treatment program that is the most effective for everyone. The right approach depends on your individual needs, goals and circumstances. Psychological approaches such as ACT can help adults develop practical skills for managing difficult thoughts, emotions, attention and follow-through. A suitability conversation can help determine whether this group is an appropriate option for you.
