All our clinicians are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, the regulatory authority overseeing all health professions' Boards including the Psychology Board which sets the guidelines and policies for all Psychologists.
Our services are provided in accordance with the Australian Psychological Society Code of Ethics and Professional Practice to protect privacy and confidentiality, and ensure quality of care and services.

MELANIE CALDER
BSc (Honours), MProfPsych, MAPS
Director and Principal Psychologist

Melanie Calder is the Founder and Principal Psychologist at Calder Psychology. She is a registered psychologist with advanced training in the assessment and support of neurodivergent individuals across the lifespan.

Melanie holds a Master of Advanced Professional Psychology, a Master of Professional Psychology, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Honours), completed at The University of Western Australia (UWA) and La Trobe University.
​
She has completed specialised training through UWA in autism assessment and has experience conducting comprehensive autism and ADHD assessments across children, adolescents, and adults. She also has a strong interest in autism and ADHD intervention, supporting individuals across the lifespan with attention, emotional regulation, and everyday functioning.
​
Melanie has a special interest in trauma-informed care for individuals experiencing PTSD and complex PTSD. She works within a holistic, strengths-based framework, supporting the connection between mental and physical well-being. She is passionate about creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel understood and empowered to build meaningful lives aligned with their values.

With extensive experience, Melanie works with children, adolescents, and adults from diverse backgrounds, supporting a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges.
She specialises in helping clients better understand themselves and build practical skills to improve everyday functioning, emotional wellbeing, and quality of life. Melanie provides evidence-based support for:

DR JOSEPH FLEMING
PhD, MSW
Registered Mental Health Social Worker

Joseph is a highly experienced counsellor and therapist, as well as an Accredited and Registered Mental Health Clinical Social Worker. He brings a calm, compassionate, and grounded approach to his work, helping clients navigate a range of challenges including:​

HUMAIRA ABDUL-JALIL
BSc (Honours), MProfPsych
Registered Psychologist
Humaira is a warm and compassionate psychologist who holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Master of Psychology (Professional) from Curtin University. She enjoys working with people of all ages and from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, including those from Islamic faith communities.

Humaira supports clients facing challenges such as OCD, depression, anxiety, stress, and relationship or interpersonal difficulties. She also works with individuals exploring questions around identity and deeper, underlying patterns in their lives. In addition, she has experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD and Autism.
​
Her approach is thoughtful, client-centred, and culturally responsive. Humaira takes care to tailor therapy to each person’s unique needs, drawing on evidence-based approaches like CBT, Schema Therapy, DBT, and behavioural strategies to help clients create meaningful, lasting change.

MICHELLE LALKAKA
Provisional Psychologist
Michelle is currently completing her Master of Professional Psychology. She also holds a Graduate Diploma in Psychology at Murdoch University and aspires to become a Clinical Psychologist. She has strong skills in communication, cultural awareness, and a genuine interest in the wellbeing of children and adolescents. Her thoughtful, empathetic approach ensures that every participant feels seen, valued, and supported as they engage in our group activities.
She brings a wealth of creativity, encouragement, and a warm, welcoming spirit to our LEGO Club. In her role as a volunteer assistant, she supports a vibrant and engaging environment where participants can share ideas, embrace new challenges, and have fun building — not just with LEGO bricks, but also with friendships and confidence.​

DUNCAN CALDER, FCA
Client Support | Business Development

Duncan, a qualified Chartered Accountant, plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of the practice. He leads the business development and finance functions at Calder Psychology. His unwavering integrity is evidenced by the application of his personal and professional skills.

Duncan served as a partner at KPMG Australia from 1997 to 2014, where he led various sectors, including corporate finance, forensic services, and energy and natural resources practices in Western Australia, contributing significantly to the firm's success for decades. He led a major bilateral business organisation, instrumental in fostering multiculturalism and strengthening ties between Australia and Asia for a decade. He has been the managing director of Contour Value since 2014, focusing on helping businesses to assess, create, improve, and realise value.
With a profound commitment to fostering multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusivity, Duncan serves as a beacon of warmth and acceptance, creating an environment within the Calder Psychology team that thrives on openness, mutual respect, and collaborative spirit.

GLYN MACLEAN
Technology Manager
With a wealth of experience spanning decades, Glyn is an expert across the ever-evolving digital landscape. He has particular expertise in cyber security, ensuring that Calder Psychology has strong safeguards to protect our clients' personal data. He has worked internationally and forged connections with a diverse array of individuals and organisations, lending his insights and guidance to tackle the intricate challenges of our digital age.

His innate ability to understand and relate to others brings a refreshing wave of positivity to the cultural fabric of the Calder Psychology team.
